Hi,
I’m looking for electrical enclosures that would be suitable for modular/precast concrete projects? Any information you can give on the subject would be extremely helpful!
Thanks for your help,
Jack

Hello Jack,
Prefabricated, modular or off-site build projects happen on a production line, in a controlled factory environment. There, precast concrete building components, such as twin walls are built and assembled. The ready-made constructions are then shipped onsite as complete units, incorporating all required services such as electrics and plumbing. Therefore, all electrical fittings need to be integrated in the walls before putting together the entire building.
In terms of electrical enclosures, this means selecting solutions that can be easily installed on the wall formworks before pouring concrete as well as remain in the same position afterwards. The housing should also be strong enough to withstand any pressure from the solid concrete as well as protect the electrical equipment within by preventing concrete or humidity from penetrating into its structure.
Currently, the only enclosures designed specifically for precast concrete (and modular) construction projects belongs to Spelsberg’s IBT range. These are designed to be casted into position in concrete panels as well as offering the right strength and leak-proof capabilities to protect the electrical components within the structure.

As one of the key benefits of off-site construction methods over conventional ones is the short lead time, manufacturers need a highly responsive supply of enclosures. Spelsberg is able to support them by offering a quick turnaround service. Thanks to our manufacturing and warehousing facilities, we can promptly send our customers the solutions they need, even when a bespoke design is needed. In fact, we offer a next-day delivery service for custom samples.
