Dear Andrew,
That’s an excellent question, and one we hear quite often.
Condensation and heat build-up can be real issues inside enclosures, especially where temperature fluctuations cause moisture to form. Over time, this can affect performance and shorten the life of the electrical components inside.
To address this, Spelsberg has developed an innovative Air Technology system. This is integrated as standard in our AK small distribution series, where it has proven highly effective at preventing condensation from forming inside the enclosure.
The clever part is the design of the ventilation elements. They allow air to flow through the enclosure and constantly equalise pressure between the inside and outside. At the same time, their shape prevents water and foreign bodies from entering. This means that even with permanent air exchange, IP65 protection is maintained.
Even if you’re not using an AK distribution, the good news is that the “BEL Air” ventilation element is also available as an accessory for retrofitting into other enclosures or existing installations.
So, whether you’re specifying a new installation or upgrading an existing enclosure, there’s a practical solution available to help manage condensation and temperature, without compromising ingress protection.
If you’d like advice on selecting the right enclosure or retrofitting option for your application, just let us know. We’ll be happy to help.
Kind regards,
Chris
