Dear Louis,

Outdoor venues like caravan and camping sites are often exposed to harsh environmental conditions, so it’s important to check that any enclosures you use on your outdoor site meet DIN VDE 0100-708 standards. Some countries use the IEC 60364-7-708 standards instead, but both require five important safety features:

  1. Protection class must be higher than 0.
  2. Equipment must have a minimum splash protection rating of IPX4.
  3. If equipment undergoes high-pressure cleaning it should be protected to a rating of IPX6 or inside protective housing.
  4. Protection from solid materials should be at least IP4X.
  5. Installations must be able to withstand reasonably foreseeable mechanical stress with a minimum impact protection rating of IK07.

Spelsberg offers a range of enclosures suitable for use at caravan sites and similar outdoor venues. The Abox enclosure is fast and simple to install, while the Abox Pro or GEOS models can cope with the most rugged outdoor camping environments. Our RK and RKi designs protect junction boxes in indoor and sheltered outdoor areas, and the AK range offers additional connection space in similar areas. The GTi and STV models are great choices when you need empty enclosures.

To learn more about Spelsberg’s recommended enclosures for different applications, view our technical information page. Our product finder tool allows you to search specifications and find the best enclosure to suit your site’s needs.

If there are any other questions I can help with regarding our enclosures for camping and caravan sites, or if you have specific requests for your intended application, please feel free to send me a private message.

Kind regards,

Chris
