Preventing water ingress in enclosures is a must to protect the electrical equipment within, ultimately ensuring its correct functioning. It is particularly important where the housing is installed in harsh environmental conditions, such as high-risk flood areas, ports, or washing facilities. In these cases, products with ingress protection (IP) rating of IP68 are paramount, as they can withstand continuous immersion in water with a depth of more than one meter.

To provide a reliable solution that can address these needs, Spelsberg developed the Abox XT range of junction boxes. These are made of robust polycarbonate, which is anti-shock, impact-resistant and weatherproof, and feature double-membrane seals to protect against water ingress. These products come with a bag of cast resin, funnel, ventilation seals and a pair of disposable gloves. By using them, you can seal the connection clamps, further enhancing the waterproof capabilities of our enclosures. Once applied, the resin can be easily removed and re-inserted, simplifying reinstallation operations.

The Abox XT series has been tested by submerging the enclosures for 168 hours at water depths of up to 15 meters, according to DIN EN 60529 standards on IP-protection classes. The system is also certified according to DIN VDE V 0606-22-100 regulations on boxes and enclosures for electrical accessories for household and similar fixed electrical installations.
