Dear Martyn,

It’s vital to keep all electrical equipment protected against water ingress, particularly where electrical enclosures are at risk of being partially submerged or flooded. In these cases, enclosures with an ingress protection (IP) rating of IP68 offer resistance to prolonged water immersion at depths of up to 3 metres.

While it is possible to specify individual components for water resistance, it is more cost-effective and reliable to use resin sealing inside your enclosures. This method protects the internal components from moisture penetration and allows for ease of maintenance and visual inspection.

Spelsberg’s Abox XT series junction boxes feature cast resin to deliver compliance with safety standards DIN EN 60670 and DIN EN 60529. One advantage of resin sealing is that it is easy to remove and allows for easy retrofitting and repair. Our innovative, durable waterproof junction boxes give you peace of mind by ensuring that your electrical systems continue to operate safely even in damp or submerged outdoor environments.

The Abox Pro XT model is ideal for challenging industrial and outdoor settings. It is designed to withstand ambient temperatures from -35°C to 80°C, with a substantial impact resistance rating of IK08. The model is available with WAGO screwless clamping technology to ensure there is no compromise on contact safety.
