4. Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies to run and secure the site, and only use other cookies as set out below. Cookies are small files stored on your device; similar technologies such as pixels and local storage follow the same rules.
| Type | What it does | Examples | Your choice |

You can change your choices at any time through the Cookie settings link in the site footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Questions and answers posted on the forum are public, so anyone can see them, including search engines.
6. International transfers
Some organisations we share information with are outside the UK, so your information may be transferred abroad, always with safeguards in place.
- European Economic Area, including Germany: UK law recognises these countries as providing adequate protection, so no extra safeguards are needed.
- United States (e.g. Cloudflare, Google, Automattic): we rely on the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified. Otherwise we use the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Contact us if you’d like more information about these safeguards.

| Server and security logs | Up to 30 days, unless needed to investigate an incident |
| Analytics information | 14 months |
| Cookies | Varies by cookie; see the details in our cookie settings |
8. Your rights
UK data protection law gives you rights over your personal information, and using them is free in most cases.
- Access: ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erasure: ask us to delete your information, including your forum posts.
- Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your information.
- Objection: object to any use based on legitimate interests. If you object to direct marketing, we will always stop.
- Portability: ask for information you gave us in a machine-readable format, where we rely on consent or a contract.
- Withdraw consent: at any time, for anything based on consent, such as marketing emails or cookies.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 10. We may need to confirm your identity first. We’ll respond within one month, or within three months for complex requests, in which case we’ll tell you why. Some rights have legal exceptions, and we’ll explain if one applies.
9. Security, other websites, children and changes

Changes to this policy. We may update this policy, for example when we add site features or the law changes. The current version will always be on this page.
