Dear Roger,
When we talk to customers about fire-rated enclosures, we always point out that durability and heat resistance are only part of the story. Yes, those are essential qualities, especially when you’re dealing with systems that need to stay operational for 30, 60, 90 or even 120 minutes into a fire, but most installers also need flexibility. Every install is different, and the enclosure has to adapt to the real-world layout of the electrical system.
Spelsberg’s Lifeline WKE 2–6 range really lives up the motto for this series: “be flexible”. One of the biggest advantages is the adjustable mounting rail. It can be set in two different height positions, which gives you room for single or double terminals as well as fuse holders. If you’re working with D0 (NEOZED) fuses, for example, the lower position is ideal, while the upper position keeps standard terminal blocks perfectly aligned. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference when you’re trying to keep an install efficient and tidy.
The base carrier is another feature we always highlight. With just one screw, you can reposition it in 45-degree steps, so you can angle the terminal block exactly how you need it. When you’re dealing with tight spaces or awkward cable runs, this kind of adjustability can save a lot of time and frustration.
Speaking of easy installation, the external fixing lugs come pre-fitted and can be rotated 90 degrees. That means you can get the enclosure securely mounted in no time, even when the surface or orientation isn’t perfect. The patented knock-out membranes make cable entry clean and quick, too; no cracking, no rough edges, just smooth insertion that keeps the job moving quickly.
Of course, all of this flexibility sits on top of the core strength of the WKE series: reliable intrinsic fire resistance. The boxes are made from high-performance polycarbonate that stays non-conductive in a fire, so you don’t get short circuits when you need the system to perform at its best. Whether it’s emergency lighting, alarm systems, or pressure boosting systems, the WKE range helps make sure critical infrastructure keeps working precisely when it matters most.
